History

Eddie Brock's history is presumably similar to his Earth-616 counterpart's up to the point where Spider-Man first bonded to the Venom symbiote. Like Earth-616 counterpart, Brock worked for the Daily Globe and implicated Emil Gregg as the killer Sin-Eater. However, Spider-Man caught the real Sin-Eater Stan Carter, resulting in Brock's termination from the Daily Globe. Blaming Spider-Man for his misfortune, Brock wanted revenge.[1]

Somehow, Brock found out that Doctor Octopus and the rest of the Sinister Six had reassembled to kill Spider-Man when he began killing criminals. Eddie disguised himself as one of Doctor Octopus' minions and killed him so he could get the chance to kill Spider-Man.[2]

Utilizing Doctor Octopus' tentacles, Brock joined the Sinister Six. While talking with the Sinister Six's ally, J. Jonah Jameson, Jameson felt that Brock was blaming Spider-Man for his own life problems instead of himself. When Spider-Man appeared at the spot where the Sinister Six set up their trap, the Sinister Six attacked. However, most of the Sinister Six were taken out with Brock being taken down by a kick from Spider-Man, leaving him badly injured. In the end, Jameson decided to aid Spider-Man and helped him flee from the Sinister Six, leaving an injured Brock behind.[1]

Brock was later taken to the hospital and charged with the murder of Doctor Octopus. Later, Jameson met with Brock. Jameson told Brock that he let his obsession with Spider-Man as a menace consume him and almost ruin his life. Jameson was eventually able to let go of his hatred and advised Brock to do the same. Jameson also told Brock that he would testify on his behalf during his murder trial and that he wasn't alone, causing Brock to tear up.[3]
