History
Early Life[]
Edward Harrison was a high-ranking general in the U.S. Army.
Reed Richards[]
At one point, he worked as liaison with world-renowned genius Dr. Reed Richards under the command of General Ferguson. Together, they battled the alien invader Gormuu and covered up the battle afterwards.[1][2]
Control[]
Dr. Richards wrote a paper showing the need to defend the country and the planet, so the U.S. government and Harrison followed his advice and formed Control. He recruited General "Thunderbolt" Ross, General Lewis Haywerth, General Cecil Slinkard, industrialist Howard Stark, and scientist Dr. Bolivar Trask. He hoped they could monitor all future scientific progress to end threats before they began.[2]
Harrison and Control arranged for the shielding aboard Marvel-1, the craft created by Dr. Richard, to allow the crew to be exposed to Cosmic Radiation in hopes of creating superhumans.[3]
After U.S. scientists were being mysteriously kidnapped and taken to Russia, Don Blake/Thor traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet with Edward. Here, he explained his plan was to get himself kidnapped so he could learn what was happening, and then secretly become Thor and free the scientists. Edward advised him against this, but Don did not listen and carried out his plan anyway.[4]
Harrison hoped he would be appointed head of S.H.I.E.L.D., but ultimately, he was rejected.[2] He later hoped to recruit Tony Stark to S.H.I.E.L.D. during the construction of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, but he declined.[5]
Seclusion[]
The Control organization fell apart after the birth of the age of superheroes. Harrison went into hiding fearing he would be killed by his former allies. He later contacted Daily Bugle reporter Cliff Garner to tell his tale. Cliff seemed not to believe his stories, so Harrison stabbed him 98 times, to death, with a comb.[2]
Harrison went into hiding using the Hulk's Cave as a base. Mark Ewing, another Daily Bugle reporter, came to find him, led to the site by a Life Model Decoy of Cliff Garner. Harrison realised it was a trap, destroyed the robot, and took Ewing with him. They escaped aboard Smart Stan, a S.H.I.E.L.D. Flying Car he had kept from the old days.[3] They travelld to the crashed Sanctuary ship once owned by the Mad Titan Thanos. There, he revealed the truth about Control and their actions regarding the superhuman community. S.H.I.E.L.D. arrived, believing him to be a spy. He narrowly escaped, but was killed in the process.[2]See Also
