History

Edwin Martynec

An amoral genetic researcher, Edwin Martynec used his expertise to grant himself a sort of pseudo-lycanthropy.

Martynec took his twisted experiments to the Apache reservation in Camp Verde, Arizona, founding Arroyo Labs. There, he began falsely diagnosing people with cancer, giving him the opportunity to conduct radiation experiments. He diagnosed Maria Proudstar with cancer. Her sons, John and James, infiltrated Martynec's clinic and discovered his fraud.

He later worked with Stryfe at Project: Stepladder, which ultimately resulted in the genocide of Camp Verde.

Martynec would later join the Heritage Initiative, heading up its X-Gene Harvesting Program. When funding dwindled, they were bought out by Orchis. The Initiative acquired the legal rights to the X-Genes of the native population of Camp Gozhoo. While trying to abduct those mutants, Martynec was confronted and defeated by Thunderbird.
