History
In the tumultuous era of 1915 Czarist Russia, the mystic allure of the enigmatic Grigory Rasputin drew the attention of the formidable siblings, Ivan and Elena. Elena, a Romani Mutant hailing from the distant lands of Siberia, possessed remarkable powers that caught the eye of both Rasputin and Mister Sinister.[1]
Rasputin, already renowned for his extraordinary abilities, was intrigued by the unique gifts displayed by the siblings. Sinister, on the other hand, saw in Elena a potential key to unlocking the mysteries of mutant genetics. The initial encounter between Rasputin, Elena, and Sinister resulted in a clash, but ultimately, a common ground was found. Rasputin and Sinister united with a shared mission: to forge a generation of superhumans by exploring the potential of breeding fully active mutants. Despite initial resistance from Rasputin, the collaboration unfolded with a controversial plan involving Rasputin's genetic material and a series of clandestine unions. Elena became a pivotal figure in this endeavor when Rasputin, in an unexpected turn of events, seduced her, leading to the birth of an illegitimate child named Grigory.[1]
Ivan, Elena's brother, fueled by disgust over Rasputin's influence and the mistreatment of his sister, sought allies in a plot to eliminate Rasputin. The Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich and Prince Felix Yusupov joined forces with Ivan, leading to a covert gathering of conspirators determined to kill Rasputin. Rasputin, miraculously revived from a near-death experience, urgently sought Sinister's help. A mystic ritual ensued, involving Rasputin's brides—mothers of his unborn children. Rasputin, sacrificing his corporeal form, split his consciousness among the unborn children, sealing his fate. In a twist of fate, Elena, furious at her brother Ivan, attacked him with her powers, seemingly killing him in front of Mister Sinister.[1]
However, the truth revealed itself decades later when Sinister visited Elena on her deathbed. She had let her brother live, dispelling the illusion of revenge that Sinister believed to be the motive behind the apparent act of fratricide.[2]See Also
