History

Elynas was a Scottish king.

Pressyne, daughter of the serpent lower-bodied demoness Maralith and descendant of Set, took on the form of a fairy and married Elynas on the condition he would not see her in labor. When Pressyne did gave birth to triplet daughters, but Elynas rushed into the birthing chamber, causing Pressyne to depart with her daughters, Melusine, Melior, and Palatyne, and fled to the lost isle of Avalon.

On their 15th birthday, Melusine learned the reason for their banishment, and consequently led her sisters to capture Elynas and imprison him in a mountain. Learning about it, an angered Pressyne punished her daughters for their disrespect:

    • Melusine was cursed to become a "serpent from the waist down" every Saturday.[2]
    • Palatyne was imprisoned with her father's treasure on a mountaintop in Arragorn.[1]
    • Melior's fate remains unrevealed.
Melusine and Palatyne would later respectively sire Yith and Nagala, both potential mother for the seventh generation descendant of Set, prophetized to restore the kingdom of the Serpents.[3][1][2]

Notes

  • King Elynas was a fictional king of Albany (another name for Scotland, also known as Alba) mentioned in tales about Melusine, the most famous being the one of Jean d'Arras, compiled about 1382–1394.[4]
