Elysius was created by I.S.A.A.C., the sentient computer system of Titan, moon of Saturn and home of the Titans. She was created to serve as ISAAC's lieutenant and aided ISAAC in its conquest of Titan. ISAAC was corrupted by Thanos and enacted a failsafe program created by Thanos when he created Elysius, Stellarax, Dionyus, Lord Gaea, and other artificially created Titans. Following the departure of Stellarax for the planet Earth, she was appointed commander of the remaining forces.[1] She also oversaw the creation of new artificial constructs at the Life-Baths.[2]

After she fell in love with Mar-Vell she aided him, Drax, and Rick Jones in opposing ISAAC.[3] Following the final battle and the defeat of ISAAC, Elysius and Mar-Vell spent weeks together on Titan.[4] When Mar-Vell died from Blackend,[5] Elysius arranged to have his child, conceiving a boy genetically extrapolated from Mar-Vell's DNA and hers, and then artificially aged.[6]

She was later killed by Lord Syphonn.[7]

Elysius returned in an alternate reality that was then woven into Earth-616's reality when Genis had Entropy remake the universe and remained on Titan.[8]

Elysius is an artificially created being patterned on and possessing the attributes of the long-lived offshoot of humanity called the Eternals.[9]

  • Superhuman stamina[9]
  • Superhuman strength[9]
  • Superhuman speed[9]
  • Superhuman durability[9]
  • Immortality: Elysius possesses an extremely long lifespan and immunity to most terrestrial diseases.[9]
  • Telepathy: Elysius has limited telepathic abilities of an unrevealed nature. She keeps griffin-like creatures which obey her telepathic commands.[9]

She uses an alien hand-weapon capable of disrupting force fields or of firing energy of an unspecified nature as bursts of concussive force.[citation needed]

ISAAC crafted her personal sky-ship which resembles an ancient Earth galleon but possesses the capacity of flight[citation needed]

  • Elysius's death was reported in Captain Marvel (Vol. 4) #14 in flashbacks, based on the unpublished stories planned for Captain Marvel (Vol. 3).
  • There are several panels in Death of Captain Marvel #1 that suggest a different origin for Elysius. The scene in question begins near the end of a conversation between Elysius and Mar-Vell in which she is shown telling him how she "just drifted around until (she) came to Titan." Mar-Vell then expresses how frustrating it is that there's so much he dosn't know about her and so little time left for him to find it all out. This seemingly contradicts the idea that Elysius was created in the Life-Baths of Titan by ISAAC not long before she was assigned to kill Mar-Vell. This retcon hasn't been mentioned anywhere outside of that graphic novel but, if needed, it would be easy to reconcile with the ISAAC origin. All it would require would be a revelation that, instead of having been created from raw chemicals in the Life-Baths, Elysius had actually been an alien visitor to Titan who ISAAC had abducted, transformed in the Life-Baths and brainwashed into believing that he had created her.
