History
Emily was Norman Osborn's wife and Harry's mother. Norman was very devoted to her and the only person he ever showed love to, but Emily saw him for the monster he was and faked her own death to get away from her husband, making it look like their son's birth had weakened her.[3][4]
Wanting to get her son away from Norman, Emily approached ex-Oscorp employee Nels van Adder who had been transformed into a monster by Norman. She offered to help him with his situation if he successfully kidnapped Harry.[5] He failed to abduct Harry the first time due to Spider-Man's interference, but was successful the second time.[6]
He brought the unconscious Harry to a secluded cabin in the woods where Emily was waiting, but before she could give Nels the antidote to the Goblin Formula she tasked him with killing Norman after he was hospitalized following the second abduction attempt. While Nels was away, Emily waited for Harry to wake up, and when he eventually awoke she tried to explain to him why she had left.[7] Unfortunately for her, Nels had failed in killing Norman, and having learned that she had returned her former husband arrived to the cabin to get Harry back. Emily tried to convince Harry to come with her, but he rejected her, believing that his father was a good man and she had abandoned them for no reason. With tears in her eyes, Emily fled the cabin in her car, only for Nels to crush it on the road. He demanded that she gave the antidote now as he was quickly dying, only for her to reveal that she had lied and never had an antidote, prompting her call herself a true Osborn. Enraged, Nels went to attack her, but Spider-Man soon came to her rescue. He managed to drive the dying Proto-Goblin away, while Emily returned to the shadows.[8]
Decades later, Emily was able to get hired under the alias "Emma" by her ex-daughter-in-law, Liz Allan, to be the nanny to her grandchildren, Normie and Stanley, becoming only known as Emma.[2] During her tenure as nanny, she took blood samples from her grandchildren for unknown reasons.[9]
Knowing that her ex-husband Norman would try to go after the grandchildren, Emily decided to kidnap Normie and Stanley to prevent that from happening.[10] However, Liz had tracking chips placed on the boys, allowing her, her stepbrother Mark Raxton, and Harry to find them quickly. As Liz confronted Emily, Norman appeared, having bonded to the Carnage symbiote to become the Red Goblin. When Norman became distracted by several attacking superheroes, Liz, Harry, Mark, and Emily escaped with Normie and Stanley but were later found by Norman, who kidnapped Normie and merged him with the Carnage symbiote.[11]
Harry tasked his mother with protecting Stanley, and they later reunited at an Alchemax facility, where Emily was forgiven by her son for abandoning him. Harry reclaimed the Osborn name, stating he would work to make it mean something good.[4] Following "Harry"'s death, Emily would mourn his loss alongside Harry's close friends.[12]See Also
