- It's this simple. We're the Avengers -- and there has come a day. A day unlike any other -- an enemy no single hero can withstand. And we know how to deal with that. We can keep Alpha Flight in the loop -- but here and now, people need us to fight for them. And when that call goes forth, we don't stand back and debate it. We stand together and we stand up. Always.

Synopsis for 1st story
Tony dreams of how the Skrull-Kree war started, something that Immortus had shown him before and now he was remembering. After perpetrating a genocide of the Cotati on Hala due to the challenge laid down on them by the Skrulls for rewarding the victorious race with their technology, the Kree leader Morag declares the Skrulls will be conquered too. The Kree later kill the visiting Skrulls before stealing their spaceships and weapons, before initiating the eons long war. As he wonders why he dreamt it, Tony gets contacted by Carol who states the Avengers have need of him.
Carol tells Captain America that they received request for help from the Blue Area of the Moon while the Avengers travel to it in the Quinjet. After landing, he gets suspicious since he doesn't hear any animal life and suddenly finds himself attacked along with She-Hulk by a Kree sentry with a strange head. Thor tries attacking it, but gets caught in its blast before he can land a hit. As Captain Marvel tries absorbing the energy its pouring out, it mounts a sonic attack on the Avengers. The Swordsman however soon shows up to help them and cuts off the head, allowing the team to finally destroy it.
Robbie Reyes is however confused as to who their helper is, having never heard about him before. This leads to Swordsman recounting to him about the end of Jacques Duquesne, the original Swordsman. Jacques trained Hawkeye in all weapons and had originally joined the Avengers originally so he could backstab them, but couldn't bring himself to do it. Jacques eventually sacrificed himself for the Celestial Madonna, whom he had fallen in love with. A Cotati however merged with him as he was deemed worthy for purification. Tony finds this strange as he first dreamt about the massacre of the Cotati and now was meeting the Cotati Swordsman.
The Swordsman states that the Blue Area of the Moon is now a place for the Cotati to redeem their past when their conflict with the Kree was ignited. Reyes questions him about the identity of the Celestial Madonna and learns that it was Mantis, a former Avenger. After the birth of Mantis and Swordsman's child, she grew restless and left to seek out her own life, but has visited their child Quoi to make sure he stays on the right path. Thor states that the child has been brought up well and states that he'll surely have risen to the post of the Celestial Messiah. Quoi soon interrupts and tells him that it's just a title, but he will fulfil his purpose as a savior.
Quoi shows the Avengers the last ruined Kree city and tells Thor that it will be the beginning of a new future and peace in all of creation. Thor bring forth rain to help him, allowing plant life to grow quickly over the area with his help. While eating around a campfire, Tony states that he recognized the Kree sentry was a hybrid, which Quoi states was a Kree sentry and Skrull mutation. The two races have been war for long but Quoi states they've allied against the Cotati, the Kree hate them while the Skrulls view it as correcting a mistake they made long ago by selecting them over the Kree. The two races have united under Dorek VII, but things are actually being run by Tanalth and Kr'l.
Black Panther asks if Alpha Flight can be of help and Carol states that they should call in Abigail Brand for diplomacy. Swordsman however states that it will be useless and Carol wonders whether one of the Cotati killing a Skrull who was working alongside a Kree, had something to do with the situation. Swordsman tells her that it isn't how they resolve things but sometimes they will do what must be done, something she herself would know about. Tony states that the only thing they can do now is fight the Kree/Skull alliance which no one superhero can stand against, to which the others agree. Meanwhile, as the alliance approaches, the Fantastic Four are shown heading into space in the Fantasti-Car.
Tony Stark wakes from strange dreams – as old allies make a distress call to the Avengers. In the new Green Area of the Moon, the Cotati are waiting with news of a terrible enemy that could wipe out both them and humanity itself. The Celestial Messiah has returned... but are the Avengers ready to hear his message?
