Quote1 He is the original. The first lost, and the first found. The creator of Sakaar and the father of the Contest of Champions. Where once you were nothing, now you are something. You are the property of the Grandmaster. Quote2

History

The Grandmaster was the ruler of Sakaar and the creator of the Contest of Champions. A mostly eccentric ruler, the Grandmaster spent most of his time collecting fighters for his gladiatorial arena, which wasn't difficult given that Sakaar was a planet surrounded by portals.

The Grandmaster's most popular champion was the Hulk, a raging monster from Earth, for he was seemingly undefeatable. During the Hulk's reign as champion, Scrapper 142, the scrapper who brought the Hulk to the Grandmaster, brought another contender to the Grandmaster - Thor Odinson, the God of Thunder. At first, the Grandmaster ridiculed Thor for his title and his inability to produce thunder or lightning, but Thor proved him wrong when he almost defeated the Hulk in combat. The Grandmaster even had to intervene to ensure Thor didn't win.

Not long after this, the Grandmaster was informed that the Hulk and Thor had escaped their quarters, so he had Scrapper 142 and Loki track them down. However, matters only escalated from there, as a full-scale revolution was instigated by the gladiators. The Hulk and Thor even stole the Commodore, the Grandmaster's personal ship for orgies, in order to escape Sakaar. The Grandmaster sent his chief officer Topaz to quell the fighting and to prevent the Hulk and Thor from escaping, but she was seemingly killed in the attempt to capture them.

After the fighting was over, the Grandmaster was confronted by the many angry slaves, and he congratulated them on the successful revolution and called it a tie.[1]
