History

After most of the world population was turned into vampires in the V-Day, Eric Brooks, the vampire hunter better known as Blade, eventually came to realize that the world was already lost, and needed a king instead of a protector. This led him to become more violent as he worked his way into overthrowing Wilson Fisk, who had since become the undisputed Vampire King of New York City.

Having previously let Blade hunt vampires in his territory to get them to accept his protection in exchange for indentured servitude, Fisk began to develop a cure for vampirism to take the Daywalker off the board for good, and also make the whole world bow down to him. Said cure had been encrypted by Amadeus Cho, a servant of Fisk since after the V-Day. Blade went after Amadeus when he escaped from Fisk Tower Zero, but was unable to get to him because Citizen V of the Last Avengers took the boy to his team's hideout.

Using the arm of a familiar he killed while pursuing Amadeus, Blade entered Fisk Tower Zero and killed most of the vampires there, including the King, by gassing them with aerosolized silver. Since Amadeus survived by using a wet towel as gas mask, Blade tried to finish him off himself, but was intercepted by Citizen V. Soon after killing his opponent, Blade caught Amadeus. The boy believed Blade was possessed by La Magra, a Blood Demon whose summoning caused the V-Day, and tried to convince him to fight against it. Somewhat confused, Blade showed his eyes to Amadeus to prove he was not possessed by La Magra before killing him too. With Fisk dead, Blade proceeded to take his place as the Vampire King of New York.[1]

The history of this Blade was experienced by his counterpart of Reality-616 through the Darkhold. Before heading into the Other-Realm to confront the Elder God Chthon, the Scarlet Witch assembled a group of heroes, including Blade. In order to temper them to the madness of the Other-Realm, she had them briefly read from the Darkhold. As they read the book, each experienced a unique story, a twisted reflection of themselves. However, they all read too far into it, transmuting the heroes into their twisted selves with all of their memories as well.[2]

Notes

  • Although Blade is not possessed by La Magra, it can be theorized that the Blood Demon's dark magic affected him in some way, due to his blank eyes.
