History

Sometime before the Fall of X, Erika Doiron became the new director of Department H. Galvanized by Orchis' anti-mutant propaganda campaign, Doiron restructured Alpha Flight as an anti-mutant task force consisting of non mutant members (Guardian, Snowbird, Shaman and Puck) to hunt down mutants deemed as threats to Canada. Working with Orchis, Doiron restarted the Box program and recruited Roger Bochs Jr. to construct Box Sentinels to supplement Alpha Flight. Doiron was enraged when Alpha Flight failed to apprehend Argent and was defeated by a mutant splinter group consisting of Northstar, Aurora, Fang and Nemesis, which was widely shared on social media. After berating the team, Doiron ordered the Box Sentinels to be immediately deployed.[1] When Feedback was spotted in Bend, Oregon, Doiron forbade Alpha Flight from intervening and ordered them to return to headquarters under threat of arrest for potentially causing an international incident. Doiron did not want Department H to be publicly humiliated by mutants again and had Box Sentinels deployed to apprehend Feedback. Coordinating the attack with Bochs, who was controlling the Sentinels remotely, Doiron ordered him to avoid casualties and to capture Feedback alive, but allowed lethal force if necessary and attempted to calm Bochs down when several units were destroyed by Feedback.[2]

Incensed over the possibility of another public defeat, Doiron decided to directly supervise Bochs at his control station and ordered Alpha Flight to join them. The splinter group managed to take out several Sentinels before teleporting away with Feedback, much to Doiron's anger. Bochs was able to track the group's location in Turtle Mountain, Manitoba but when informed that it would take over an hour for the Sentinels to reach them, Doiron reluctantly allowed Alpha Flight to travel there with their faster Omnijet and ordered them to eliminate Nemesis to avoid any more escapes.[3] Guardian reported to Doiron that they were able to apprehend Feedback and took him to the Omnijet just as the Sentinels arrived to escort them. While the Omnijet and Sentinels were en route, Department H discovered Krakoa North's location and Doiron ordered the Sentinels to go there while ordering the Flight to return with their quarry, without informing them of the discovery.[4] Guardian discovered what was going on and changed course; Doiron again ordered him to return to headquarters under threat of arrest. When Bochs became horrified after a Sentinel under his control killed Argent, Doiron berated him by convincing him Argent's death was justified and threatened to replace him if he didn't obey her commands. However, the Nemesis was able to teleport her mutant teammates and the refugees away while Alpha Flight was revealed to have been secretly aiding the mutants the entire time without Doiron's knowledge. Doiron had the remaining flight members arrested and declared them traitors to the country while Nemesis was taken to Department H's medical facility. During a subsequent press conference, Doiron covered up several details in Department H's actions, including Argent's death, and refused to take any questions.[5]
