Synopsis for "Hail Thanos - Part 2"

  • Synopsis not yet written

Solicit Synopsis

Eternals and Deviants have been at war for a million years. Our Eternals have had enough. They want to live in peace, alongside the Deviants. The Deviants have other ideas. Meanwhile, Thanos is Prime Eternal and, to everyone's surprise, puts into action a series of sensible policies for the good of all. There is a lie in this solicit. You may be able to spot it.

Notes

  • While narrating events in this issue, the Machine mentions that the Eternals' Second Principle means they are driven to hunt those suffering excess deviation. However, its narration in Eternals (Vol. 5) #1 established that "Correct Excess Deviation" was the Third Principle, something that was re-affirmed by Uranos in the later-published Eternals: The Heretic #1. Also, statements made by Thena and the Forgotten One in Eternals (Vol. 5) #5 had previously confirmed that "Protect the Machine" was the Second Principle. This mix-up is presumably due to the fact that the Machine, as it acknowledged in Eternals (Vol. 5) #7, is not fully recovered from the damage it suffered recently.
  • This issue more clearly established that "excess deviation" is something that randomly happens to Deviants, an affliction that causes them to transform into murderous monsters who attack, kill and eat other Deviants (or humans) until they are themselves killed. This new concept had been mentioned by Kieron Gillen in his CBR interview[1] but had not been fully explained in-story until now.
