History

Ethniu was the daughter of the Fomorian sun god Balor.

Mating with the Dagda, she sired the Celtic god of the sun Lugh. Another account state that Ethniu mated with Cian instead, and sired triplets. Warned by his wife Cethlann that a grandchild would slay him, Balor drowned the triplets, but Lugh survived.
