History

Evelyn Cream, an agent of the Spookshow, was dispatched to investigate and cover-up the re-emergence of Miracleman. Interrogating terrorist Steven Cambridge, Cream promised not to kill him, and did so anyway. Deducing from Steven's infomation that Miracleman was secretly Michael Moran, he contrived a situation wherein Moran would be unable to get away or safely transform, in order to shoot him in the gut with tranquilizers.[1] While Evelyn was ordered to kill Moran, he instead kidnapped him, reported a fake name to his superiors, and offered his services to Miracleman, believing that he could befriend and influence the superhuman.

Cream guided Miracleman to the bunker where Project Zarathustra was conducted, betraying his superiors in favor of their creation. When the two learned the truth of Project Zarathustra and its director, he managed to calm Miracleman from a berserk rage and convinced him to leave. He later approached Sir Dennis Archer and convinced him to prevent the Spookshow from taking further action against either of them. [2]

Moran later enlisted Cream's help finding his wife, who had been kidnapped by Gargunza. Confirming that Kid Miracleman had not re-emerged, he next contacted Dennis Archer. Desperate to avoid Miracleman's wrath, Archer suggested his former employee search for the only other person who knows Miracleman's identity: Emil Gargunza. [2]

Tracking Gargunza to South America, Evelyn followed Miracleman to Gargunza's compound, where he briefly reunited Michael and Liz, before he and the temporarily-powerless Moran were chased into the jungle by Gargunza's Miracledog. He gave Moran his gun and split up with him to hopefully attract the creature away from Miracleman's lesser half. In his final moments, he realized the folly of trying to curry the favor of superhumans, as Miracledog chased him down and bit his head off. [2]

Years later, after Miracleman had taken over the world and established his pantheon, the Qys death god Mors resurrected Cream, as he had many others in his Underworld. Miracleman put his old ally in charge of a fake City where the inherently-treacherous intelligence community were confined for their own safety under para-reality programming. When one such agent attempted to escape the City, Cream approached her at the border to explain the purpose of the City. Disillusioned with her life as a spy and thus capable of being rehabilitated, Cream promised not to kill her, and allowed her to leave. [3]

Personality

Cream was a determined and straightforward man that relentlessly strove for his goals. Despite appearing calm and in-control, as he spent time around Miracleman, Evelyn began to struggle with an inferiority complex relating to his ethnicity, regarding his cultured and intelligent manner as a form of appropriated whiteness. [1] He never let this insecurity show, but had complicated feelings about being the assistant of a godlike White man. Plagued by recurring nightmares about being an escaped slave in a deadly jungle, he tried to brush off these fears as "hysterical mysticism," but his mind would return there both times he followed Miracleman into battle. [2]

Abilities

Cream had a thorough classical education, and was able to speak multiple languages well enough to read foreign texts untranslated. He was also a trained assassin and spy.
