Synopsis for ""This Power Unleashed!""
The story is continued from the last issue.
The Avengers are unable to revive the fallen Goliath. The Wasp calls the team's usual doctor, Dr. Donald Blake, but his answering service says he's out of town. Instead, Cap calls upon an army doctor whom he worked alongside during the war, Major Carlson.
Meanwhile, the Black Widow has been brainwashed to once again be loyal to her communist masters. She is sent back to the States to destroy the Avengers.
After examining Pym, Carlson informs the team that Goliath will recover but that he must never attempt to shrink any further than his present, ten-foot height. Frustrated and feeling like a freak, Goliath storms out in anger.
The Black Widow enlists the aid of the Swordsman and Power Man to defeat the Avengers. While back at Avengers Mansion, Cap informs Hawkeye that the Black Widow has been seen by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents alive and in the States. Hawkeye is elated, but Cap warns him that she has been brainwashed to be loyal to the Soviets; the archer doesn't care. He rushes off to find her. Concerned, Cap asks the Wasp to tail Hawkeye secretly.
Hawkeye returns to the mansion that Natasha previously inhabited. He finds her there along with the Swordsman and Power Man. The two villains knock Hawkeye out. The Wasp (who flew off after Hawkeye so fast that she neglected to arm herself with a stinger), who's been watching the proceedings, flies away to alert the rest of the Avengers. Unfortunately, she is waylaid by a sparrow and then has a crash landing that renders her unconscious as well.
The Swordsman infiltrates Avengers Mansion (apparently they haven't updated any of their security measures since he was briefly a member.) He captures Captain America and takes him back to the Widow's lair. However Cap activates a "communi-crystal" that alerts Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch to his predicament. As they track Cap's signal, the Wasp recovers and returns to the mansion to summon aid from Goliath.
Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch are subdued, but Goliath and the Wasp arrive on the scene soon afterwards and turn the tide. The three villains flee the scene. Hawkeye has a chance to prevent their escape by shooting an arrow after them, but doesn't. He can't bring himself to harm Natasha. As the Avengers depart, Cap offhandedly states that things are "back to normal." For Goliath however, stuck at ten feet tall, he can no longer lead a normal life.Appearing in "The Fearful Finish--!"

Synopsis for "We Must Destroy... The Cobalt Man!"
After a successful test for Angel, Iceman, and Beast in the Danger Room, the Professor commends the X-Men for being at peak fighting capacity and also congratulates the group over their recent victories against Banshee, the Ogre, Super-Adaptoid, and Warlock in spite of the fact of their losing Mimic when his powers were lost. With that said, the Professor awards his students with time off much to the delight of the whole group and they decide to spend time in the city. When the Professor notices that Cyclops is once more brooding over Jean, he gives Scott some books to return to her at Metro College. To Scott's surprise, Warren offers him a lift to go visit Jean. Meanwhile, Bobby and Hank get ready to go on another date with Vera and Zelda.
In the city, Jean is hanging out with Ted Roberts, when they are both greeted by the arrival of his brother, inventor Ralph Roberts. When they hear about Ralph's athletic prowess, they go to the Metro College stadium where Ralph shows off his pole vaulting skills. However, the pole snaps and Ralph ends up hitting his head. When Jean and Ted show concern, Ralph merely shrugs off the injury. Later, Scott and Warren meet up with Jean, Ralph, and Ted at the Never-Say-Diner where Scott drops off Jean's books. When Ralph extends his invitation to Warren and Scott to see his lab, Scott agrees but Warren declines finding the visit to the lab as unappealing; politely declining, Warren parts company. Meanwhile, Bobby and Hank are on their date with Vera and Zelda. When beatnik poet Bernard attempts to make a play on Zelda, Bobby secretly freezes the poet’s coffee with his ice powers. Warren decided to go to a dance club where Warren runs into an old friend, Candy Southern, and the two begin to play catch up.
At Ralph's lab, Ralph shows off the various inventions he has created that operate off Cobalt power. He takes Ralph aside to show him his latest invention as well: a suit of Cobalt Powered armor that he hopes will rival that of Iron Man. Putting on the suit at Ted's insistence, the combination of his previous head injury and the Cobalt power of the armor causes Ralph to go crazy and he recklessly shows off his powers. When Ted mentions Iron Man, Ralph (calling himself Cobalt Man) snaps and strikes Ted down and then begins destroying his lab.
Alerted by the noise, Scott and Jean change into Cyclops and Marvel Girl and attempt to stop Cobalt Man's rampage. Although the two put up a good fight, they are buried under rubble when Cobalt Man attempts to bring the roof down on them, allowing Cobalt Man to escape and attack the Stark Industries plant. Saved by Jean's telekinetic powers, Cyclops calls for help, prompting the Professor (still working in his lab) to summon the other X-Men to Cyclops and Marvel Girl's aid. Bobby, Hank, and Warren all have to make excuses to leave their female company. While Zelda and Vera are less than impressed, Warren and Candy part on good terms with Warren promising to call her the next day.
Back at Ralph's plant, Scott and Jean free themselves, ducking out of site when the revived Ted hops into his brother’s van to rush off and try and stop him from destroying Stark's plant. As Ted races off unknowingly leading Cyclops and Marvel Girl along the way, Warren picks up Bobby and Hank and they arrive at the Stark plant first. With Iron Man away on other business, the plant is defenseless against Cobalt Man until Angel, Iceman, and Beast arrive to stop his attack. Despite their best efforts, Cobalt Man manages to give the three X-Men the slip.
As Cobalt Man continues his attack, Ted, Cyclops, and Marvel Girl arrive on the scene. Cyclops quickly comes up with a strategy to stop Cobalt Man. Realizing their foes chest plate must be the source of his power, Cyclops has Iceman trap Cobalt Man in a chunk of ice long enough for Cyclops to blast the chest plate. Unaware that his powers have been disabled, Cobalt Man attempts to fly away but instead falls into a nearby lake to be recovered by Angel. Removing Cobalt Man's helmet, all gathered are relieved to find that Ralph's sanity has been returned to normal. Ralph realizes that some sources are too powerful for man to handle. In the aftermath of the battle, Ted thanks the X-Men for their help and hints that he may have figured out that Marvel Girl is really Jean Grey.Appearing in "While a Universe Trembles!"

Synopsis for "While a Universe Trembles!"
Thor and Harris Hobbs travel to Asgard, as per Thor's promise to allow Hobbs to accompany him so that he might write a story about Asgard in exchange for destroying evidence of Thor's secret identity of Donald Blake. Crossing the Bifrost Bridge, they are shocked to find a number of Asgardian warriors who are tending to their wounded following their defeat at the hands of the Absorbing Man. Thor learns that the Absorbing Man has attacked Asgard after being brought to the sacret realm by Loki.
Inside the Palace, the Absorbing Man has taken on the properties of the energy unleashed from Odin's Sceptre of Supremacy, and has rechanneled the energies back at the All-Father. This has no effect on Odin, who simply absorbs the attack back into his Sceptre. Abandoning this form, Absorbing Man in turn attempts to attack Odin straight on. Odin attempts to attack Creel with a whirl wind, however this causes the Absorbing Man to change into a human cyclone instead.
Meanwhile on Earth, in a remote Asian jungle, soldiers are searching for a local Witch Doctor whom they hope to kill in order to subjugate his people. This Witch Doctor comes across one of the Norn Stones that was dropped by Thor when he was in the region collecting the stones in a previous quest. This stone gives the Witch Doctor enhanced strength that allows him to fight off his pursuers. He ultimately sends them fleeing when he is able to catch their bullets in mid air and throw them back at the army sending the soldiers fleeing.
Back on Asgard, the Absorbing Man gets a new idea: Absorb all the properties of Asgard itself. In doing so, Creel begins to grow in size and power that dwarfs even the might of Odin. Loki then appears explaining he was the mastermind of the plot, and that because he control the Absorbing Man, he has proven that he is mightier than Odin himself and by Asgardian Law, is entitled to carry the Sceptre of Supremacy. Odin, realizing that he has no other choice hands the Sceptre to Loki, who basks in his victory. However, this proves to be short lived when the Absorbing Man believes that he should be entitled to the Sceptre as he had done all the dirty work.
However, this was all a trick orchestrated by Odin, who as Loki and the Absorbing Man fight over possession of the sceptre, explains that the Sceptre merely channels his vast powers and that in another's hands it is useless. Odin then uses his powers to send both Loki and the Absorbing Man into space where they freeze up in the vacuum and left orbiting the void.
With the battle over, all the Asgardians hail Odin for his victory over Loki. Thor then remembers that Harris Hobbs was with him, and finds the reporter among the wreckage, thankfully unharmed. Odin is furious that Thor brought a mortal to Asgard and demands that he return him. When Hobbs learns of the battle he missed he is equally upset, things fare worse for the reporter when he attempts to take photographs of Asgard but finds that his camera has also been destroyed. With no other choice, and accepting his failure, Hobbs agrees to return to Earth with Thor.
While back on Earth in a remote region of Mongola, the Norn Stone empowered Witch Doctor attacks an opposing village. He is called a demon by the villages and decides to take the name for his own. With the village under his control the Demon then vows to take over the entire world.
As this is happening, Thor and Hobbs returns to Earth where Hobbs realizes that even his memories of Asgard are now gone, and wonders if he has been tricked by Thor. Thor explains that although his waking days he will not remember his experience among the Gods, but he will remember them in his dreams.
