Synopsis for "The Strength of the Sub-Mariner"
Within the Baxter Building, the Thing suffers from the flu. As he resists Crystal and Johnny's efforts to try and feed him cough medicine, he sneezes causing the room to heavily shake. Reed comes in and scolds them for creating noise that might wake baby Franklin. He then tells them that, as soon as the weather clears, he and Sue will be taking Franklin to see his nanny Agatha Harkness.
Meanwhile, deep at sea, the Sub-Mariner is aboard an Atlantean vessel when the crew detects an earthquake, so they go to investigate it. Namor flies to the surface and finds an island filled with dinosaurs as well as the unconscious body of the mutant terrorist Magneto. Namor recovers Magneto's body.
Back in New York, the storm has cleared, leading to Johnny playing a prank on the Thing and some subsequent rough housing. This is quickly ended when the Thing spots a number of metal objects rising into the sky. Unknown to all, this is caused by Magneto, who is secretly causing trouble with his powers. He soon takes audience with the Sub-Mariner and tries to convince him to go to war with the surface world, but Namor does not budge on the situation. In the city, Reed uses a device to track the source of the magnetic energies and traces them back to Atlantis. As they decide what to do, they are suddenly attacked by various devices within the Baxter Building under Magneto's control.
Upset by this sudden attack, the Thing unthinkingly unleashes some sonic wave missiles at the city of Atlantis in retaliation. Namor saves as many of his people as he can, and he is later informed by Magneto that the attack came from the surface world. The Master of Magnetism then convinces Namor to lead his people into war with the surface after the prince later stops a concussion torpedo from striking his kingdom as well.
As Reed scolds Ben for acting so rashly, they soon detect a fleet of Atlantean ships heading towards the US coast just as the vibro-alarm begins to go off, signaling a coming war with Atlantis.Appearing in "At War with Atlantis!"

Synopsis for "At War with Atlantis!"
As they approach the US coast, the Sub-Mariner spies on the Fantastic Four and sees that they are preparing for war against his people. At his side is Magneto, who continues to fan the flames of Namor's aggression in order to suit his own plans for conquest.
Meanwhile, at the Baxter Building, Reed contacts the head of the military and convinces them to wait until the Fantastic Four can deal with the situation before mobilizing forces to face Namor's army. Growing impatient, the Human Torch tries to speed off but is pulled back by Reed. He then orders Sue to take their son Franklin to Agatha Harkness' home on Whisper Hill to keep him safe. Just then, the President calls in and gives Reed one chance to stop Namor, telling the Fantastic Four that the United States has its army mobilized to strike if they should fail.
While Sue and Franklin take off for Whisper Hill, Crystal is ordered to stay behind and monitor things at base as Ben, Johnny, and Reed go off to face the Atlanteans. When Namor's ship detects the approach of the Fantasti-Car, the Sub-Mariner decides to face them alone. While his back is turned, he does not see Magneto use his powers make their vehicle fire a missile at the Fantastic Four. Spotting the missile, Reed activates a jammer device as Namor exits the ship to stop the projectile. The resulting blast strikes the Sub-Mariner, knocking him into the water below. The Thing dives in after him, while, inside the submarine, Magneto makes his move, using his magnetic powers to incapacitate the crew as he is intent on taking over the invasion so that mutants can rule the world. At that moment, Sue drops Franklin off with Agatha Harkness before departing to join the others. However, along the way, her ship is spotted by Magneto, who uses his powers to destroy the vessel and take Sue prisoner.
Meanwhile, the Thing and Sub-Mariner battle it out below the waves, but Ben proves no match when his air begins to run out. When Namor returns to the surface, he finds his flagship missing, but, before he can leave to look for it, he is attacked by Johnny and Reed. Ben joins the battle, but Namor manages to pull away toward his fleet. As the Fantastic Four subdue Namor, they learn that they were all manipulated by Magneto. Just then, one of Namor's soldiers informs his king that there is a message waiting for him. Going to a view screen, Namor and the Fantastic Four see that Magneto has both Sue and Lady Dorma as his prisoners. Magneto demands that Namor join his cause if he wants to keep the women safe. As the communication terminates, Johnny and Ben realize that the fate of the world rests in the hands of both Namor and Reed, whose women are in deadly peril.Appearing in "The New Defender!"

Synopsis for "The New Defender!"
Believing that Dr. Strange is responsible for harming Barbara Norriss, the Hulk bounds over to a nearby castle to get away from him. Following with Namor, Strange and the others are transported to a mystical relam. Strange and Namor are then overpowered by the Executioner and an army at his command.
Locked in the same cell with Bruce Banner (who has changed back into human form) and Barbara, they also notice that in another cell are the Enchantress and the Black Knight. Enchantress explains that after her last battle with the Avengers she and the Executioner traveled to this realm and the Executioner soon became the consort of the queen Casiolena, much to Enchantress' chagrin. Wanting revenge she charmed the Black Knight into helping, but both were defeated and locked up.
Using her magical powers, Enchantress turns Barbara into the Valkyrie, and with the help of the Defenders manage to free themselves. In the heat of battle, the Enchantress kills Casiolena, and reclaims the Executioner as her own. However, when the Black Knight revolts believing that the Enchantress loves him, she informs him that he was only a pawn in her game, and turns him into stone before leaving with the Executioner.
The Defenders then travel back with the stone Black Knight, where Valkyrie adopts Aragorn, and decides to join the Defenders, whether they like it or not.
