| Synopsis1 = From a mystical view screen in Asgard, the Fantastic Four have just witnessed as Doctor Doom has stolen the powers of Galactus and is now heading home to Earth. As they lament over their situation, the Fantastic Four, Odin and Thor witness as Doom tests his powers by flying into the heart of a star and snuffs it out. When Thor boasts that he defeated Galactus in battle and that Doom should be of no concern, Reed Richards points out that Doom doesn't just have the power of the world devourer alone. He explains that Doom also stole the Ultimate Machine, the Helix of Randac, the Cosmic Cube and the Cosmic Control Rod. The culmination of all these devices has allowed Doom to become the most powerful being in all existence. Seeking more powerful allies, Reed checks on those who may help, and finds that the Surfer has been chained up in Doom's castle, the Watcher is busy viewing another galaxy, and Galactus -- having reverted to his former form of Galan -- is at risk of death in the void of space. When Reed asks for assistance from Odin, the All-Father offers him his Cosmo-Craft, but before Reed can leave Johnny points out that his brother-in-law is needed on Earth and volunteers to go recover Galan. Johnny is joined by Balder the Brave and the pair venture off into space.

Odin then calls an assembly of his people and tells them of the coming danger and pledges the Asgardians to the Earth's defense. While at the same time Reed sends out the alarm, alerting the attention of the Avengers, the X-Men, the United States Air Force, SHIELD, the Inhumans, and the Sub-Mariner and his people. They all gather in New York City where suddenly, Doom materializes over the teeming metropolis and announces his supremacy over all humanity and the universe. When the soldiers attack, Doom easily blasts them aside, and then destroys the SHIELD helicarrier, and slays both the Avengers and the X-Men. As Johnny and Blader continue their mission, Thor leads the Asgardians on a full frontal attack on Doctor Doom. Doom easily bats the gods aside, but Odin manages to survive the attack and uses his powers to grow to the same height as Doom and fight him one-on-one.

  +
Meanwhile in Latveria; Reed, Sue and Ben free the Silver Surfer and battle through an army of Servo-Mechs in order to get free. While in deep space, Johnny and Balder recover Galan who is hanging onto life by a thread. Back on Earth, the Watcher appears as Doom defeats Odin on combat then turns to face the Sub-Mariner and his armies and sea creatures. Doom makes short work of Namor and his armies. Doom then commands the world to surrender to him. While back at the Baxter Building, Reed has pulled up data on various monsters, information that Reed assures Ben will allow them to take back their world from Doctor Doom.

However as revealed in New Avengers Vol 4 #17, Dugan's body was kept alive and his mind was transmitted into LMDs.
  +
  +
  +

  +
  +
* This Giganto whale was last seen in Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Comics Magazine #8 during it's rampage through New York City. A Giganto was later used in Fantastic Four #149 by the Sub-Mariner and Triton in a mock attack on New York in an attempt to rekindle the romance between Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Girl during a period in which they were separated.
  +
  +
* The Fantastic Four are looking up a list of monsters at their headquarters, while they reference that these monsters are only "comic book" characters, this contradicts that the Fantastic Four encountered many of these monsters in Marvel Monsters: Fin Fang Four #1 and Marvel Monsters: Monsters on the Prowl #1. The reason for this apparent continuity error is the fact these Marvel Monster books were published four years after this story. Monsters who appear in the screen are:
  +
** Groot who first appeared in Tales to Astonish #13, who was last seen in Marvel Monsters: Monsters on the Prowl #1 wherein he and a group of other monsters were rounded up by the Thing, Hulk, Giant-Man and the Beast and dumped into the Negative Zone. His next chronological appearance is in Marvel Swimsuit Special #2, where he somehow got put on Monster Island.
  +
** Xemnu the Titan, first appeared in Journey into Mystery #62 where he was originally called the Hulk. Chronologically he was last seen in Journey into Mystery #66 when he was defeated by Joe Harper seemingly destroyed the creature. Xemnu will resurface a few years from this point where his attempts to steal children from Earth is thwarted by the Defenders in Marvel Feature #3.
  +
** The dragon known as Fin Fang Foom first appeared in Strange Tales #89. According to conversation in Marvel Monsters: Fin Fang Four #1, Fin Fang Foom was defeated by the Fantastic Four and placed on Monster Island sometime prior to their battle with the Miracle Man in Fantastic Four #3. His last chronological appearance was also in Marvel Monsters: Monsters on the Prowl #1 where he somehow became part of the Collectors collection of monsters that are freed by the Mole Man. Foon next appears in Astonishing Tales #23-Astonishing Tales #24 where the mad scientist Dr. Vault attempted to use Foom to destroy his foe It the Living Colossus.
  +
** Googam first appeared in Tales of Suspense #17. He was last seen being defeated by the Fantastic Four in the flashback depicted in Marvel Monsters: Fin Fang Four #1. He apparently remained imprisoned on Monster Island for years until he was subsequently shrunk down in size and released many years later.
  +
** A Blip was first seen in appeared in Tales to Astonish #15, one of these aliens would clash with the Fantastic Four years later in Fantastic Four Unlimited #7.
  +
** Goom was first seen in Tales of Suspense #15. He was also one of the monsters who was dumped into the Negative Zone in Marvel Monsters: Monsters on the Prowl #1. He resurfaced on Monster Island in Warlock and the Infinity Watch #7, although how he got there is unexplained.
  +
** X the Unknowable was a construct of a comic book writer's imagination who first appeared in Tales to Astonish #20. Although seemingly destroyed in that story, the creature also makes an unexplained appearance on Monster Island in Warlock and the Infinity Watch #7 many years later.
  +
** Lastly, the other Giganto, a massive Deviant mutate under the command of the Mole Man, first seen in Fantastic Four #1. The creature was last seen in Fantastic Four: First Family #3 where it attacked New York City after following the FF back there from their first encounter with the beast. Chronologically, Giganto next appears in X-Men: The Hidden Years #20 where the Mole Man unleashed the beast upon the X-Men.
