History
The Fantasticar MK II was designed and maintained almost entirely by Johnny Storm and used by the Fantastic Four. It has seen many upgrades and refits over the years. When Dr. Doom took control of the Baxter Building,[3] he used it against the Fantastic Four, destroying it in the process. Reed Richards presumably repaired it afterwards.[citation needed]

The Fantasti-Car MK II
The Fantasticar is a 27-foot, hybrid, vertical take-off/landing craft combining electric-powered fan lift and jet turbine thrust that yields maximum fuel efficiency. Designed by Reed Richards and Johnny Storm, and constructed out of a variety of foamed alloys and employing early computer-aided manufacturing techniques, the vehicle is highly unorthodox, but air-worthy. [4]
The Fantasticar's maximum level flight airspeed is 550 miles per hour with all four members of the Fantastic Four on board. Maximum altitude of 30,000 feet. The twin mini-planes can each detach and fly independently of the mother craft, or by radio control. They are stowed on board with one wing up. The mini-planes are released and captured by an articulated arresting arm that holds them until they are either ready for stowage or flight. Their maximum level-flight airspeed is 350 miles per hour, their normal service ceiling is 38,000 feet.[4]

The Fantastic Four used the Fantasticar to rendezvous at the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier with the rest of the resistance prior to becoming zombies themselves.[5]

The Fantasticar of Earth-13122.
The Lego version of the Fantasticar resembled its MK II equivalent, and it was used several times by the Fantastic Four.[6]

Although unnamed, this vehicle pretty much resembled its MK II equivalent. This vehicle was used by the Fantastic Four to travel to Latveria in order to stop the villainous Doctor Doom.[7]

Notes
- When this vehicle first appeared in Fantastic Four #12, its name was spelled "Fantasti-Car" (or maybe "Fantasti-car"). That hyphenated spelling was retained for over ten years but, beginning in Fantastic Four #165, the name began to be spelled as "Fantasticar" which has been the correct spelling for almost fifty years now. Notably, this is the way its name is spelled in its profiles in Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe #4 and Marvel Fact Files #5.
- The technical illustrations of the Fantasticar that appeared in Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe #4 were drawn and written by Eliot R. Brown.[8]
- According to Fantastic Four #170, Johnny Storm modified the "old Fantasticar" into the "new, improved model" but exactly how he was able to "turn a flying bathtub into a streamlined job" has never been explained.
- Given that "Fantasti-Car" and "Fantasticar" sound the same when spoken, the best evidence for how the vehicle's name should be spelled would come from either signs that exist in-universe or Official Handbook-style profiles.
