But haven't you heard, oldest one? The first secret of magic. Nothing ever really dies.

Sentience of the Fifth Cosmos[source]

This still-unnamed entity is the embodiment of the Fifth Cosmos and fourth Multiverse. They are the maker of magic and weaver of the illusions of change.[1]

They succeeded the Pilgrim and were replaced by the Sentience of the Sixth Cosmos.[1]

History

Like most of their predecessors before them, the embodiment of the Fifth Cosmos went to the ethereal location known as the Far Shore when the Multiverse passed through its renewal cycle (a recurrent process in which the Multiverse dies and is reborn in a new embodied form), giving way for a new personification of the Multiverse to rise in its place.[1]

The Fifth Cosmos was where magic and sorcery first formed, and beings such as Moridun lived. As that universe died, the energy of the Fifth Cosmos approached Moridun and fused with him, leaving him as the last survivor of the fourth multiverse, and entering the Sixth Cosmos as Omnimax, its iteration of the eater of worlds.[2]

During the Eternity War, they were summoned alongside their counterparts by Eternity to thwart the plans of the First Firmament, who sought to reclaim his position as everything that is. After the embodiment of the Fifth Cosmos used their powers to bind the First Firmament with the very chains he forged to bind Eternity, the Cosmoses took him to the Next Place, where they planned to heal him.[1]

Notes

  • Even though this personification of the Multiverse is not given a name in their only appearance to date, they are referred to as "The Fifth [Cosmos]".[1] For the archivist purposes of the Marvel Database, it will be used as the page name until a name is given.
