History

The Mad Thinker's Confucius android was based upon the Chinese philosopher whose writings on life and spirituality are still revered to this day. The Thinker created this android as part of a group of androids based on great thinkers from history, housed in a laboratory under Ponder, New Hampshire. He hoped that they would be able to make new applications of their philosophies for the modern age, but they were all unable to think outside of their historical context. Considering the androids to be failures, the Mad Thinker began kidnapping living Nobel Prize winners, so he can make android copies of them for a more modern think tank. When Captain America and Team America rescued the Nobel Prize winners, they damaged and disabled Confucius and apparently all the others, who the Thinker was using as henchmen.[1]

However, the Mark Twain android was not disabled, and was able to hide himself and several other androids (including Confucius) from the S.H.I.E.L.D clean-up crew, and later he repaired the others. These androids concluded that while the Mad Thinker had provided them with plenty of philosophical knowledge, they knew little about humanity. They were able to pool their resources and contact the Vision, an android with lots of experience with humanity, to teach them. The Vision agreed to teach them, but shortly afterward a damaged Fyodor Dostoyevsky android found them, followed by an angry mob who thought Dostoyevsky was a serial killer, Spider-Man, and the real serial killer. After a large conflict which was eventually resolved when the real serial killer was identified and captured, the androids decided to take Dostoyevsky and retreat into isolation while they considered their next move, instead of continuing their instruction with the Vision.[2]

The Mad Thinker eventually returned to the Ponder laboratory and evicted the androids. Many of the androids went on to found the town of Nüponder, Michigan. It is unknown if Confucius was among them.[3]
