Quote1 This isn't where you go to swim and play. The waves will mangle you or the reef will chew you up or the current will rip you out into the open water. You can't even sunbathe here. The pound and slapping of the waves makes the air shake. I asked Sage to do some math for me. A seventy-foot wave can do five hundred tons of damage to a body. Welcome to the thresher. Quote2

Dead Mutant Cove is a small bay on Krakoa that experiences extremely violent waves.[1]

History

To relax and surf, Wolverine commissioned an adamantium surfboard from Forge and took that surfboard to one of the most dangerous parts of Krakoa, Dead Mutant Cove. While surfing he met and bonded with Pike and her two associates (believing that they were mutants). However, Pike and the others were actually agents of XENO, who were able to infiltrate the island through Dead Mutant Cove. Because of the constant violent waves, Black Tom's kelp and plankton alarms were unable to detect intruders.[1]

Having successful entered Krakoa undetected, Pike and the others were able to sneak into the The Bower and abduct three infants.[1] X-Force was able to rescue two of the infants, but Max was brought to the The Man with the Peacock Tattoo.[2]

Black Tom has requested a landscape modification through Cypher to either eliminate Dead Mutant Cove or reduce the force of the waves.[1]
