Captain Stacy is injured during an encounter with an informant and the latter is killed. According to the forensic reconstruction, it was Stacy who shot first and who risks a corruption charge, which he would however avoid by resigning. George doesn't mean to do it and his daughter approves of her, but when the Enforcers threaten her, he changes his mind. When she discovers that her father no longer seems willing to defend himself against the accusations, Gwen realizes what must have happened and decides to investigate to exonerate him, helped by her boyfriend and her friend Harry Osborn.

Solicit Synopsis

The First of Gwen Stacy’s AMAZING Adventures!

Gwen and Peter may not have met until AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #31, but that doesn’t mean Gwen’s life began on that page. Learn the never-before told origin of Gwen Stacy, top of her class, daughter of the Police Captain and, as her friend Harry Osborn calls her, “The Beauty Queen of Standard High.” But she’s way more that you even know! Gwen’s got a science brain, a nose for trouble and a no-quit attitude that always gets her in trouble. In the early Marvel Universe, that’s a recipe for disaster. Don’t miss Gwen, Captain Stacy, Harry and Norman Osborn, Crimemaster, Wilson Fisk, Jean DeWolff, Yuri Wantanabe and even Spider-Man!

Notes

  • "Gwen's Fashion Favorites" is an homage to the paper doll cut-outs featured in teenage comic books in the 1930s and '40s. It is possible to cut out the paper doll of Gwen and her various clothes for her.

Trivia

  • The events in this issue seem to make it happen right before Fantastic Four #35 (the news announces Reed Richards is going back to Empire State University to give a speech) and during the events of Amazing Spider-Man #23 (Foswell has already published his report on Lucky Lobo's gang, but the police have not yet caught them all).
