History
The Light-Forms were an artificial race of beings made up of solid light created by Count Crankshaft of Inkandessa 3 after his species had rendered uninhabitable the two previous planets they had made their homeworlds and their current one was on its way to suffer the same fate. Crankshaft's objective was to almost entirely eradicate any possibility of leaving an impact in the ecosystem.
The Light-Forms are generated by the Great Machine, a mighty photonic matrix that projects into the real world the essence of a person, previously scanned from the original individual and stored in a Holo-Pod, in the form of a construct of solid light. The Light-Forms don't have to eat or breath, and they don't age. The only requirement for a Light-Form to exist is to remain relatively close to the Great Machine.
Light-Forms make up 99% of the population of Inkandessa 4. The remaining 1% consists of the beings known as Meat-Forms, a community of people that originally refused to transition into Light-Forms, and live, die and grow old in Countess Crankshaft's hidden farm, making the smallest impact on their ecosystem as possible. The Meat-Forms also serve the purpose to maintain and keep the Great Machine running, to ensure the survival of the Light-Forms.
Centuries after the Light-Forms were first created, Inkandessa 4 was visited by the Silver Surfer and his companion Dawn Greenwood. The Light-Forms gave the visitors a warm welcome, but reacted negatively when Dawn made light of the fact that she needed to use a restroom. Unwilling to have a "flesh-bag" that excreted waste among themselves, the Light-Forms took Dawn to their scanning facilities and, without her consent, created a Light-Form duplicate of her. Unaware that she was a solid-light copy, this Dawn replaced the real one as she and the Surfer were introduced to Inkandessa 4's culture.
When the hologram of an animal at a zoo the Surfer and Dawn were visiting glitched out and phased through its cage, the Light-Forms revealed Silver Surfer and Dawn not only the fact that their entire planet was made of solid-light people and structures, but also that Dawn had been replaced with one herself, arguing that for them it was morally wrong to have her physical form contaminating the planet.
When the Light-Forms refused the reveal the Surfer the location of Countess Crankshaft's farm, where Dawn's original body had been shipped to be destroyed, he saw himself forced to use his Power Cosmic to temporarily disrupt all of the solid light constructs and bypass the farm's holographic shield, causing the Great Machine to malfunction.
The Light-Form Dawn used the Surfer's surfboard to make haste to reach the farm, and managed to save the original Dawn. The Surfer subsequently used his powers to bring her back to life. Countess Crankshaft scolded the Surfer and Dawn for messing up the Great Machine, putting at risk the existence of the Light-Forms, and both apologized. They then decided to depart, leaving the Light-Form Dawn behind, as she was required to remain on the planet and relatively close to the Great Machine for her to exist. Following an emotional farewell between the Surfer, Dawn, and her Light-Form duplicate, the two visitors left.[1]Powers and Abilities

Notes
- The Light-Forms didn't try to turn the Silver Surfer into a Light-Form after he revealed his powers allowed him to absorb and shunt both matter and energy at will in a completely clean and efficient matter.[1]
- The mind of each Life-Form is a copy of that of their organic versions rather than the original in a new form, as evidenced by the fact that Dawn Greenwood and her Life-Form counterpart were two independent people.[1]
