After Number Five's death, Number Two revealed his suspicions about Number Nine and his intentions to appropriate power to Number Seven.[11]
Number Two publicly accuses Number Nine of wanting to take Number One's place, and in fact Number Nine protected by an armor throws a stun grenade that stuns all the members of the Secret Empire gathered in assembly.[11]
It was later revealed that Gabe Jones had infiltrated the Secret Empire as Number Six, and he too, protected by armor, did not suffer the effects of the stun grenade, but coming out into the open he rushed against and defeated Number Nine.[23]
