Sophie Pettit was a waitress at the Celestial Cafe in New Jersey. When she was a child, her father was killed before her eyes after he stood up to the Turnpike Authority. After encountering Cable and the Messiah Baby she helped them escape from Bishop. When Cable and the baby jumped into the future, Sophie, armed with weapons from the X-Mansion went to the offices of the New Jersey Assembly, instituted martial law, and killed all of the members, including its leader, Andrew Martin. She then led a rebellion against the Turnpike Authority, taking down any militant in sight. In two years of revolution did Cable and a much older Hope arrived a second time in her time period. Unfortunately, with Bishop following them, they had no choice but to abandon Sophie in order to return to the present, to change her future for the better.
