History

Tom Hale (Earth-616) and Nancy Brown (Earth-616) from Patsy Walker Vol 1 88 001

Tom "Tubs" Hale and Nancy "Nan" Brown

Origin[]

Tom "Tubs" Hale was raised in Centerville, California. During his adolescence, Tubs became friends with Patsy Walker, Hedy Wolfe, and their gang of friends,[5][1] and therefore became fictionalized as one of the characters in Dorothy Walker's comic book series that was loosely based on Patsy's life.[6][7] He eventually began dating Patsy's friend Nancy "Nan" Brown and took her to the big dance.[citation needed]

Modern Age[]

Tubs and Nan eventually married[8] and had at least two children.[7] The pair continued to reside in Centerville, where Tubs became a clerk at Krautmann's Sodas.[8] Tubs was among the Centervillians to be possessed by Demons under the control of the Sons of the Serpent.[8]

Tom "Tubs" Hale reconnecting with Patsy Walker

Sometime later, Tom abandoned the nickname "Tubs", came out, presumably divorced Nan, and moved to New York City. When Hedy Wolfe gained the rights to and began republishing the classic Patsy Walker comics, she gave Tom and others royalties for their likenesses.[7][8][2] Using these funds, Tom opened Burly Books, a bookstore in Brooklyn. When Tom and Patsy reconnected by chance, they quickly rekindled their friendship. Tom also hired Patsy's new telekinetic roommate, Ian Soo.[2]

Personality

Tom is upbeat and amiable.[citation needed]
