History

Triphammer was one of four people who were cybernetically altered by the criminal scientist Karl Malus to act as his henchmen, the original team of Power Tools. Malus sent them to abduct Madcap, so Malus could study his powers. However, the Power Tools were caught on film during the abduction by Dollar Bill.

Dollar Bill contacted the hero Hawkeye for aid, and Hawkeye clashed with the Power Tools. Hawkeye rescued Madcap, and exposed Malus's involvement, upon which Malus set his lab to self-destruct and abandoned the Power Tools, including Triphammer. Malus later employed a different team of henchmen calling themselves the Power Tools.
