I am a man without a name. It was psychically amputated in the prisons to guard against the Vile Omnipaths. I had no weapon, so I found them with nothing. I was the Omega of having nothing. There's no limit to the nothing I had.

Storm as the Fisher King[source]

History

The Fisher King was a man born in the Abyssal Prisons of Amenth. Despite being Arakkii, he had no natural mutant powers. In prison, he was tortured by the Vile rather than bend his knee to Annihilation. At age 6, he sought out Azazoth to have his own name, identity, and past psychically amputated while in the prisons allowing him to move unseen and invisible to the Vile Omnipaths.[4][6]

At age 15, he was confronted by Zsora of the Spirit Flame during an assassination attempt on Tarn. Together, they worked for years to teardown Tarn, Genesis, and Annihilation's forces covertly. They also fell in love, married, and had two daughters. Along with Syzya of the Smoke, they secretly reformed the Shadow Table, with the Fisher King holding the Seat of Nothing, to hold the rest of the Great Ring of Arakko to account.[4][6]

During a planned attack on Ora Serrata and the rest of the Great Ring when he was 45, the King of Nothing and Zsora were captured. As punishment, Zsora was killed by Famine in front of their daughters.[6] Disgusted with her father's perceived cowardice,[6] Zsen eventually accepted the bribes of the Vile and was genetically altered to be a warrior by Tarn to compensate for her non-offensive mutant power, but the Fisher King continued to fight.[1][4]

Following the terraforming of Mars and the relocation of Arakko to the planet, the Fisher King was one of the few Arakkii to take up residence on Elysium Mons away from the mainland.[1]

After resigning from the Quiet Council of Krakoa, Magneto retired to Planet Arakko.[9] Searching for a secluded location to call home, Magneto chose to construct his Autumn Palace on the Elysium Mons where he met and befriended the Fisher King.[1]

The Fisher King joined Storm's new Brotherhood of Arakko and helped to defend and inspire the Arakkii of the Morrowlands against the Progenitors.[2] While working together on the Brotherhood, Sunspot discovered existence of the Night Seats and approached the Fisher King and Syzya. Earning his seat at the Shadow Table through intelligence and perseverance, Sunspot was appointed to the Seat of Nobody that had been vacant since the death of Zsora.[4] The Fisher King and Syzya were both invited to and secretly attended Sunspot's party for the New Mutants abroad the Cidade do Paraíso.[10]

Following the betrayal of Isca and attack of Uranos, the Fisher King, Syzya, and Sunspot reveal themselves as the Shadow Table to the remaining members of the Great Ring of Arakko.[4] Although Magneto and several thousand Arakkii died, the Fisher King helped to defend the Broken Land and its people.[11][5] To prevent Isca from more murder and betrayal, he challenged her to a contest of understanding with the victory being awarded to the one who best understood the meaning of loss. Because Isca could never lose, she was consumed with feelings of loss and resigned from the Great Ring.[5]

Merged with Xilo

Alone, the Fisher King confronted Abigail Brand after her secret plans with Orchis were revealed. In addition to knowing the very secret location where she would escape to, he also knew her birth name (a secret she kept closely hidden).[12]

When Ironfire arrived on Planet Arakko with dire warnings of Genesis' return, he and the Fisher King had conflict over their own war traumas and how to best defeat their new foe. The Fisher King admitted this was (at least in part) because Ironfire reminded him of his younger self.[12]

In a desperate attempt to protect Arakko and preserve their history,[6] the Fisher King merged his body with what was left of That-Which-Was-Xilo.[13] Initially the merging was only partially successful as Xilo's worms continue to thread their way into the Fisher King's flesh and organs granting him limited access to the long history they remembered.[6] When the time came for Xilo to merge with Ora Serrata, it resulted in the Fisher King's death, as it left half of him a skeleton.[8]
