History
Flint Marko was a petty thief who fell into a particle accelerator which bonded his molecules with sand, giving him shapeshifting abilities. A while later, Flint was robbing a bank when the Symbiote-bonded Spider-Man found and chased him into the subway. The two fought until Spider-Man destroyed a water pipe causing a stream of water to melt Marko's body into mud.[1]
Attributes
Powers
Body Conversion-Sand: The Sandman possesses the superhuman ability to convert his body into sand by mental command. The sand functions identically to, as well as appears to be, normal flesh. However, he can convert all or parts of his body into animated sand at will. His brain has attained subliminal awareness of all granulated particles of his body. Through conscious effort, he can affect the degree of molecular cohesion between the numerous adjoining surfaces of his particles and thus cause locomotion of discrete volumes, down to the individual grains.
Weaknesses
Water and Heat: Flint's body, being made of sand, makes him vulnerable to water, as it can soften his sand granules, however, this does not seem to kill him. When exposed to intense heat, the sand in his body will begin to crystallize.
Paraphernalia
Weapons
Sandman could mold his arms and hands into large hammers, maces and shields.
Notes
- Thomas Haden Church voices Sandman in Spider-Man 3, reprising his role from the film.
- This version of Sandman seemingly has nothing to do with the death of Uncle Ben.
