Fort Cheer is a maximum security federal prison located in Nebraska, United States of America. Hulk and the Pantheon broke into Fort Cheer to free spy Susan Jacobson.
History
CIA agent Susan Jacobson was convicted of treason and White House Secretary Oliveris ensured that she was sent to permanent solitary confinement at Fort Cheer, for life,[1] unjustly.[2] She remained imprisoned for two years, three months and six days until her ex-boyfriend, the Incredible Hulk, organized a rescue operation aided by his associates from Pantheon. The Hulk tried to intimidate Tarkington by having his head appear in the warden's office to demand Jacobson's immediate release, or the prison would be attacked and Jacobson rescued anyway. Tarkington informed Oliveris, who refused to back down. Tarkington also had Jacobson moved to another cell, to make the rescue more difficult.[1] A Pantheon rogue agent, Achilles, informed S.H.I.E.L.D. of the Hulk's plans,[4] allowing S.H.I.E.L.D. prepare a rapid response to contribute to the protection of Fort Cheer.[1][5]
The Hulk and his ally Ulysses flew over Fort Cheer in a Pantheon ship piloted by Hector, and stormed through Corridor C, Section 2; quickly, S.H.I.E.L.D. fighters under the direct command of Director Nick Fury appeared to aid the defense, launching a localized sonic blast against the Hulk and Ulysses,[1] and initiating a dogfight against Hector. The Hulk dug under the nuclear fallout shelter, temporarily escaping Fury. Oliveris criticized Fury and Tarkington for not quickly eliminating the Hulk. New pantheon fighter planes joined the attack, facing the S.H.I.E.L.D. vehicles. The Hulk and Ulysses, unable to find Jacobson, went after the Fort Cheer command center, where Ulysses defeated the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Smith and Jones while the Hulk took Tarkington hostage, reaching a Mexican standoff with Fury. The Hulk bluffed about an attack with tactical warheads if he died; Fury, even knowing it was a lie, authorized Jacobson's release because he had discovered that her conviction had been for unjust reasons; so he allowed the Pantheon to leave Fort Cheer, and then went to White House to threaten Oliveris with making public the details of the Jacobson case.[5] Fort Cheer remained active as a prison.[2]Points of Interest
