The Assassin was a master of disguise hired by underworld boss 'Mister Big' to kill Night Raven in 1930's New York. After several attempts during which he proved to be almost Night Raven's equal, the Assassin was finally outmatched. He was branded by Night Raven and apparently shot dead by police who had mistaken him for the vigilante.[citation needed]
