Friendship 7 was a Mercury spacecraft created by N.A.S.A. that carried to orbit by an Atlas LV-3B launch from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
History
In February 1962, the mission was piloted by astronaut John Glenn, who performed three orbits of the Earth.[1]
It is now permanently display in the main entryway's Milestones of Flight gallery at the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.[2]
