History

Origins[]

The Fu Xi Clan were the human descendants of the Xian Fu Xi. In ancient times, the Fu Xi were part of an confederation of Chinese tribes along with the Nü-wa Clan and Shen Nong Clan known as the Huaxa led by the Yellow Emperor against Chiyou and his demon army. During the Battle of Zhuolu, the Yellow Emperor called upon the Three Sovereigns to assist him and their descendants.[1] In response, the Three Sovereigns gifted them their sacred weapons: with Fu Xi sending his Sword of Fu Xi. The chief of Tribe Fu Xi used the Sword along with the other chiefs to defeat Chiyou and his army.[2] Despite his defeat, Chiyou was unable to be completely destroyed, resulting in the his remains being divided and sealed away to prevent his resurrection. Three tombs were built to bury a part of Chiyou's remains, each containing a fragment of his soul and guarded by the sacred weapons, with the Sword guarding his skull. The Clans vowed to guard the tombs, as reuniting Chiyou's three parts will result in his resurrection.[3] When Chiyou's skull proved to be difficult to be sealed, the Fu Xi Chief used the wood from the trees stained from the blood of the Fu Xi clan during their battles with Chiyou to construct chains that successfully bound Chiyou in his tomb in Qianfengu. Over several millenia, each generation of the Fu Xi Clan became less vigilant, with their numbers rapidly declining and Chiyou becoming long forgotten.[4]

Modern Times[]

By the present day, the only known descendants of Fu Xi were Professor Lin and his two sons, who were all unaware of their lineage. When the Professor was coincidentally in Qianfengu for an archeological dig, graverobbers disturbed the area, breaking the seal containing Chiyou's skull and unearthing the Sword and Orb.[5] The professor went to Shanghai to give Lie the Sword and returned to Qianfengu with Feng to contain Chiyou's Orb. Afterwards the two disappeared.[4]

When Lie was attacked by Chiyou's demons in Shanghai, the Sword activated itself to protect him.[6] Lie was rescued bu Ji Shuangshuang of the Nü-wa Clan, who revealed his heritage to him.[2] Shuangshuang's grandmother ordered her to bring Lie and the Sword to the Nü-wa Clan's mansion in Gansu and remarked that the Fu Xi and Nü-wa were working together again.[7]
