Synopsis for "While all the planet's little wars start joining hands"

Nick Fury recorded the story of his military service.

In 1954, outside of a bar in Indochina, George Hatherly sat down next to Fury and was told by him that they were to watch the French attempt to retain control of the region. The two briefly discussed Fury's military history in World War II and Korea before a man named Big Tam sat down next to a woman and made unwanted advances towards her before she beat him up. She threatened to fight the other patrons before Fury stopped her and Hatherly paid the bar for the damages she caused. The woman introduced herself as Shirley DeFabio and revealed that she was Congressman McCuskey's secretary.

Later, Fury and Hatherly were tasked with welcoming the congressman, much to the former's dismay. McCuskey shook hands with Fury and insisted on being called "Pug" before introducing him to Major Lallement of the Premier Regiment de Parachutists D'Infanterie de Marine. Lallement shook hands with Fury and recalled nearly meeting him on his way to Paris. Shirley revealed to Hatherly that she looked at Fury's file and learned that Fury was stationed in Indochina due to disobeying orders to leave his men in Korea behind. Lallement and McCuskey both believed that the communists in Indochina were the threat his people thought they were and that if Indochina became communist, the rest of the region would, as well. The Frenchman also believed that a favorable report from the C.I.A. would increase American backing for their war against the communists. Fury told Hatherly that they would be flying north at 12:30 in the morning, so the latter said goodbye to Shirley.

The next day, Fury and Hatherly rode with the Lallement and the French Army to his new command, past Viet Minh territory. When they arrived, Lieutenant Delfino reported to Lallement before meeting a German Legionnaire named Steinhoff. Fury and Hatherly learned that before joining the French Foreign Legion, Steinhoff was a member of the 2nd S.S. Panzer Divison Das Reich and that only the Legion would have him. Fury claimed that West Germany might be allowed to form an army again and suggested that Steinhoff join them, although the German claimed that it wouldn't look good for them due to killing too many Jews, which shocked Hatherly.
