Synopsis for "If We Was Meant to Be Cowboys"
Fury recalled the agency's failure in Cuba, as well as the U.S., China, and the Soviet Union all picking which groups in third world countries to back, and his experience with secret missions.
In Guatemala, in 1961, while training anti-Castro Cubans, Fury reprimanded his troops for making mistakes while practicing. At an airfield, Fury told Hatherly that the Alabama Air National Guard planned to assist with the invasion of Cuba. Hatherly informed Fury that his wife Ava gave birth, so the latter gave the former the week off.
Sometime later, Fury was having sex with Shirley in a bathtub when she informed him that it had to be the last time, as McCuskey had asked her to marry him, much to the colonel's discomfort. In Miami Beach, McCuskey drank with Hatherly in a bar, while the latter was waiting overnight, while his plane to D.C. broke down. McCuskey asked Hatherly his opinion on Nick Fury. Hatherly claimed that Fury was a war hero, although McCuskey claimed that in order to draw attention like the colonel, he would have to impress the right people.
On a yacht, Fury briefed associates on the Bay of Pigs invasion when one insisted on assassinating Castro. Later, Fury was discussing the upcoming invasion with McCuskey when they came upon Shirley and the senator turned to the colonel and claimed that she was his, much to the latter man's annoyance.
