Synopsis for "Pit-Fall"
The Joes are temporarily staying with the Chaplain's assistants while the Pit is closed and sealed. Hawk accompanies a team from the Special Committee, comprised of Generals Ryan and Hollingsworth and Admiral Dyson, to inspect the deactivated base. Despite evidence of Cobra's threat, General Ryan dismisses the allegations, claiming they've been blown out of proportion, and points to a film of Springfield, where there is no evidence of it ever being the Cobra Headquarters. Meanwhile, the Joes are restless and demolishing the chaplain's assistants' tea room, to the horror of the assistants.
Flint and Lady Jaye spot hordes of Cobra Eels emerging from the river, while the Armored car crew reveals themselves to be Zartan, Zarana, and Zandar. Cobra Commander, Destro, and Serpentor disembark from the trucks, and Serpentor sends the first squad of B.A.T.s down to the Pit. Hawk and the committee lock the elevator, but the B.A.T.s jump down and keep coming. While Cobra Commander and Destro survey the situation, the Eels sneak across the base and attack Flint, but he overpowers them. Dyson sacrifices himself to detonate the B.A.T. with explosives, making Cobra Commander believe that Hawk is dead.
Hawk leads Ryan and Hollingsworth towards the escape tunnel as Ryan lays explosives, but he triggers the detonator himself, causing the Pit to collapse. Hollingsworth tells Hawk that G.I. Joe is unsuspended, and Hawk is back in command. They will be a nomad unit without a vulnerable home base and can get mobilized immediately.
