Synopsis for "The Tenth Letter"
In San Francisco, Storm Shadow is teaching Billy the Kuji-No-In when Jinx arrives with satellite photos of the gulag where Stalker's unit is being held, and a picture of the circus coming to Borovia that shows Scarlett is still alive. The Kuj-No-In represents aspects of the intuitive mind. Meanwhile, in Pvnsk, Borovia, Corporal Olga and Sgt. Mosiev watch the circus show, and Orlovsky confronts Mosiev about the whereabouts of Magda. Scarlett tries to comfort the White Clown and Orlovsky, but Orlovsky doesn't trust her.
Billy, Storm Shadow, and Jinx come to the circus to bring info about the gulag to the Blind Master, Scarlett, and Snake-Eyes. Orlovsky spies on them as the six gather in a circle forming the letters of the Kuj-No-In, and the Blind Master tells Storm Shadow to invoke the tenth letter, the void. Later, at the gulag, the rescue party silently takes the guards down, and Olga executes a prisoner for not telling anything. Olga goes to sleep, and after Boris has died, the Joe rescue party deals with the torturers.
At the river, the Joes find too much security on the border, so the White Clown arrives with a human cannonball cannon to shoot them across. Mosiev arrives and aims for Stalker, but Stalker shoots him and then gets on the cannon to be shot across the border. Orlovsky argues that they could have turned the Joes in, but the White Clown trusts that they will escape.
