Synopsis for "Not Fade Away!"

The Joes respond to an attack on a famous landmark, the Tomahawk, by the Iron Grenadiers. Lift-Ticket and his team manage to evade the missiles and, with the help of Muskrat and Lady Jaye, lead a six-man team to enter the building from the upper levels. The team is met by Joe, the installation's security chief, and Jane, the project director, who explain that they are working on the "star wars" program. However, the Iron Grenadiers are also inside the building, trying to blow up the floor above the dead one to steal the program disks.

As the Joes engage in a fierce firefight with the Iron Grenadiers, they discover that the attackers are not after the laser but the program disks, which are in the area that has just been captured. The Iron Grenadiers remove their uniforms to reveal Vipers led by Firefly, who is paying Destro back for raiding Picatinny disguised as Cobra. Cobra Commander and Doctor Mindbender are waiting at a nearby hotel to receive the disks, which they plan to retrieve with a drone.

The Joes rappel down the building and engage the Vipers but are too late to stop them from escaping in Cobra gyro-copters. However, Joe and Jane manage to hit the drone with a satellite bounce, just feet away from Cobra Commander's hotel window. As Roadblock arrives with reinforcements, Hawk suggests making Joe an honorary member of the G.I. Joe team. Joe and Jane laugh, as Joe was the original GI Joe 25 years earlier, and Jane was their nurse.

Despite facing significant challenges, the Joes manage to overcome their opponents and succeed in their mission. The story also features some humorous moments, such as when Joe and Jane reveal their past connections to the G.I. Joe team, adding depth to the characters and making them more relatable to the reader.
