History
The history of Galactus presumably mirrors that of his Earth-616 counterpart.
At an unknown period of time, Galactus died under unrevealed circumstances. The Brood took the opportunity to plant eggs in Galactus' corpse, resulting in the birth of a new intelligent and hungry parasitic race that could infect other living beings, turning them into zombie-like creatures known as The Respawned. Galactus' corpse acted as the center of a hive mind for the Respawned. As long as it existed, so would the Respawned.[1]
The Respawned converted Galactus into a spaceship from which they could travel the cosmos and invade whole galaxies. Eventually, the Respawned reached the edge of Earth's Solar System in Galactus. Using a zombified Captain Marvel, the Respawned used a fake distress call to trick a large number of Earth's heroes to come to Galactus' corpse to investigate. The Respawned then ambushed the heroes and converted them all into zombies[2] (except Wolverine).[3]
The Respawned next traveled to Earth using Galactus and attacked it, wiping out nearly all of humankind.[2][3] Some time later, the Respawned moved their operations to Limbo using Magik's teleportation power, which they planned to use as a launching point to attack the Multiverse using Magik's teleportation power. After luring a small group of Earth's remaining heroes to Limbo in a failed attempt to zombify Franklin Richards, the heroes destroyed Galactus' corpse using a gauntlet that channeled the power of the mutant Gambit. With Galactus' destruction, the Respawned's hive mind was also destroyed, leading to their demise.[1]See Also
