History

Galactus's early history and encounters with Earth and its heroes are the same as those of his Earth-616 counterpart.[1]

At some point, centuries after the War of the Worlds, Galactus returned to consume the Earth, where he was confronted by his former heralds Firelord and the Silver Surfer, as well as Dargo Ktor. In the ensuing battle, Galactus's own herald Nova was killed. Galactus abandoned his attack on Earth, and swore to never again commission a herald.[2]

Soon after, the Silver Surfer attacked Galactus, vowing to enact retribution on the world-eater. Galactus easily defeated the Surfer, destroying his board and stripping him of the Power Cosmic.

In the 31st century, Galactus threatened the Alpha Centauri system, where he was opposed by the Silver Surfer again, along with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Having gone too long without sustenance, Galactus was almost slain by the Surfer, but the cosmic entity Eon intervened – convincing the Surfer to join Galactus as an equal partner, once more finding him worlds to consume and ensuring the world-eater would not devour worlds with sapient life on them. Together, the two of them left the Centauri system.[3]

By 3014, Galactus was known as the Old Hunger, and had once more taken up a herald – Stormfront. As the Hunger, Galactus had become a massive gravitational event at the centre of the galaxy, drawing in billions of planets and planetoids. With his universe seemingly dying as the result of a catastrophic event centuries past, Galactus had cocooned himself to await the birth of a new reality. However, when Geena Drake and the Guardians approached him, her presence roused his curiosity sufficiently that he awoke briefly to assist them in travelling back to the 21st century.[4]
