History

Gambit is the first son of Susan Storm and Namor. When the Exiles arrived in his reality, he saved an unconscious Rogue from Black Panther's Bloodforce. Together, they first saved Remy's family from slave traders and then he helped her reunite with the other Exiles. Once with the Exiles, he and his family were attacked again by the Bloodforce that after the battle tried to kill them with a radioactive bomb. Saved by Remy's sister Valeria Fen and her fiancée Attuma, they were able to pass through the barrier around the Earth created by Black Panther and escaped into the Moon where the Earth's government led by Amara Aquilla resided. With his family safe, Gambit decided to join the Exiles (that unknown to all the Exiles except to Cat was the real meaning of their mission).[3]

After helping the Exiles in their missions,[4][5] Gambit was forced to return to his home-reality after learning that his father had died fighting against the Black Panther's forces. He then was nominated "King of Atlantis" and helped by the Exiles and the Earth government to defeat Black Panther and free the Earth from her barrier. When the fight was over, Remy left the Exiles and remained in his reality to continue his duties as king.[2]

Attributes

Powers

Human/Atlantean Physiology: Some of Gambit's powers come from his being an hybrid of Atlantean homo mermanus and mutant Homo superior physiologies.

  • Amphibious Physiological Adaptation: Gambit's body is specially developed for underwater conditions, granting him specialized blood circulation to withstand freezing temperatures and highly developed vision to see clearly even in murky ocean depths. His hybrid physiology means he can survive indefinitely underwater or on land.
  • Superhuman Strength: Like his father Remy possesses a physical strength greater than that of a normal human, being able to tear apart even steel.[1]
  • Amphibious Breathing: Like all Atlanteans, Gambit can breathe indefinitely underwater and being a hybrid he can also breathe on land indefinitely.
  • Aquatic Telepathy: Gambit can mentally communicate with all forms of marine life.[6]
  • Telekinesis: Remy has telekinetic abilities that he can use to mentally manipulate matter, although the limits of his powers are unknown he has been seen lifting and carrying four heavy steel beams while flying without any strain.[2]
    • Telekinetic Flight: Remy can fly by carrying himself in the air with his telekinesis or by projecting a force field under his feet.[2]
  • Psionic Force Fields: Like his mother Remy is able to project a field of psionic force which he can manipulate into various forms. Usually he uses his powers to create defensive force fields but he can also project his psionic force into a flying disk beneath his feet to travel through the air, or can project it in the shape of a sword to use it as a melee weapon.[7]
