Synopsis for "The Benefactress"
Gambit went to Paris to see Candra for the Elixir of Life and fought her and the Tithe Collector before she revealed that she set up both the Thieves and Assassins guilds, gave them the powers and the elixir, and used both of them to keep the other in check in a never-ending rivalry, then offered him the elixir in exchange for him killing his father, although he refused and turned on her. Meanwhile, a bedridden Bella Donna involuntarily grabbed Rogue's hand causing the latter to absorb the former's memories and felt regret.
Then, Julien and his fellow Assassins arrived and attempted to take the Elixir and he vowed to kill Candra and all of the Externals for what they had turned him into. Due to still needing the Elixir, Gambit stopped Julien from killing Candra, leading to a fight between the Thief and the Assassin in which the former's father tried to intervene and was injured doing so. Candra psionically blasted Julien out of a window, although did not kill him, before she let Gambit leave with his injured father. The two shared a kiss before he left before she realized that he stole the Elixir from her, so she planned to have him, his family, Rogue, and Bella Donna all killed.
