History
Gargantus was a Riigha, a type of robot employed by an unnamed extra-terrestrial race, and an enhanced iteration of its namesake predecessor, one of the earliest foes fought by Iron Man in his career. He was built by its alien masters in response to the destruction of the original Gargantus at the hands of Iron Man, who they had come to designate as Earth's protector.
Gargantus was deployed against Iron Man while the hero was on Earth Orbit refueling a satellite weapon for S.H.I.E.L.D. He knocked Iron Man back down to Earth, crashing in Sudan. The robot managed to overpower Iron Man and rip off his armor's arc reactor, but Stark's ally, the technopath Deola, came to his aid. She augmented Iron Man's suit by integrating components from her own armor into it. With his enhanced suit, Iron Man managed to subdue Gargantus. As he began to tear open the robot's reinforced torso, Deola squished something inside of it, seemingly causing Gargantus to detonate. Iron Man was caught in the explosion and died, but he was actually a backup clone of the real Iron Man.[1]Attributes

- Self-Repair: Gargantus' limbs regrow given time.[1]
- Claws: Gargantus is equipped with sharp claws capable of tearing into an Iron Man suit.[1]
- Flight: Gargantus can fly via his wing membrane.[1]
- Sensors: Gargantus is outfitted with an array of sensors including sonar, laser, facial identificiation and torque sensors.[1]
