History
Garvin Macken was the sheriff of Elijah, New Mexico, a town at the base of the Rocky Mountains in close proximity to Angel's Aerie. Macken defended the Defenders from criticism by another patron at the bar at Tex's Place but initially refused to arrest Manslaughter when he was brought to the sheriff’s office by them due to insufficient evidence and their lack of official authority. He did afterwards when he received a call from General Argyle Fist before being called away to deal with a fire at a clothing factory that had been started by Blowtorch Brand after being hired by the factory’s owner to do so. Macken arrived with the Defenders who battled and apprehended Blowtorch Brand but went into the burning building to rescue two straggling workers to pull them out. Although successful, Macken succumbed after excessive smoke inhalation. Having acted heroically, Valkyrie teleported Macken to Valhalla after his death.[1]
