Gary Hale was the fiance of Marla Drake, who was secretly the costumed vigilante Miss Fury. While Hale loved Marla and asked her to marry him, he thought of Miss Fury as nothing more than a crazy thrill seeker with no regard for the law.[1]
Eventually the two broke up and went their separate ways. In Brazil, Gary met a woman named Baroness Erica von Kampf and married her. When von Kampf was denied entry into the United States, Hale returned without her, not knowing he had left her pregnant with their son.[citation needed]Attributes
