A fiercely independent woman with a strong work ethic, she built a life for herself and her two sons, Ricky and Ray, in the heart of the city. Seeking to create a warm and welcoming space for the local community, Gena eventually opened and operated her own small businessn a neighborhood eatery known as The Other Place but better know as Gena's Diner. Gena Landers (Earth-616) Marvel Spotlight Vol 1 28

Gena Landers was first introduced when Jake Lockley, one of Moon Knight's alternate identities, became a regular customer at her small establishment, Gena's Diner.[1] Despite suspecting that Lockley lived a life surrounded by danger, Gena welcomed him without judgment, drawn to his quiet intensity and strange hours. Over time, she became one of Lockley's most trusted civilian confidants. She also forged a strong bond with fellow diner regular Bertrand Crawley, whose eccentric behavior and long-winded philosophical musings became a daily fixture at the diner.[1]

As Moon Knight's life grew more chaotic, Gena and her sons, Ricky and Ray, were drawn further into his orbit. She offered both emotional and practical support, feeding him, sharing information, and providing a place of normalcy in an otherwise dangerous life. After a brutal attack left Crawley hospitalised carried out by the serial killer Slasher—Gena helped support Crawley through the trauma and stood by Moon Knight as he investigated the case.[1] Eventually, Moon Knight revealed his true identity as Marc Spector to Gena and her family. Though shocked, Gena remained loyal and nonjudgmental, continuing to help however she could.[1] Her diner was often used as a base of operations for Lockley's street-level investigations. Even under constant threat from criminal elements, Gena remained defiant. When operatives of the Maggia stormed her diner looking for Lockley, she boldly refused to give them any information, holding her ground until Spector and his allies intervened.[2]

In later years, Gena was attacked by a violent street gang known as the Raiders, who targeted her diner in retaliation for its association with Moon Knight.[3] Despite the physical assault and emotional toll, Gena refused to be intimidated or to sever her ties with Spector and Crawley. Her resilience and fierce loyalty made her an enduring presence in their lives. Her strength was once again tested during the Scarlet Redemption saga. Stained Glass Scarlet, a fanatical vigilante from Spector's past, returned and violently confronted Crawley inside the diner, leaving him severely wounded.[4] Gena acted quickly, ensuring Crawley received medical attention, and later committed to caring for him during his long recovery. The emotional strain and escalating violence around her began to weigh heavily, and for a time, she considered closing the diner and leaving New York altogether.[5]
