—SymonSo you're a clone of the original Genis. Well, considering he was created from Captain Mar-Vell's genetic material and then artificially aged and given false memories of a childhood one must admire the consistency.

PETER DAVID RETURNS TO GENIS-VELL, SON OF THE ORIGINAL CAPTAIN MARVEL!
Both now back in the land of the living, Genis-Vell and Rick Jones are about to come crashing back into each other! Witness Genis-Vell, Captain Marvel return to the pages of his very own series written by legendary scribe Peter David, drawn by artist Juanan Ramírez!
Can Rick Jones save Genis — and himself — before they both fade out of existence? Is Rick's ex-wife, Marlo, the key?
Find out when Peter David returns to take Genis-Vell to all-new heights!Notes
- Genis-Vell had been killed by Baron Zemo back in Thunderbolts #100, and had been found surprisingly alive by Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel (Vol. 10) #Vol 1 33.
- This issue confirms that this Genis was cloned.
- Rick Jones had been killed by an evil Captain America in the pages of Secret Empire #1.
- He returned to life and saw himself mixed up with Bruce Banner and the Green Doors in Immortal Hulk.
- Genis and Rick were molecularly bonded from 1999's Avengers: Forever #12 until 2004's Captain Marvel (Vol. 5) #25
- As mentioned in the last page, Marlo's hairbrush was given to her by Death during her wedding, as seen in Incredible Hulk #418.
- The flashback scenes of this issue happen between the end of Captain Marvel (Vol. 4) and the start of Captain Marvel (Vol. 5), i.e. after Marlo and Moondragon start exploring the universe together (as seen in Captain Marvel (Vol. 4) #35, but before Genis goes insane and abandons Rick in the Microverse (as seen in Captain Marvel (Vol. 5) #1).
