History
George Tarleton was changed by A.I.M. to become a superintelligent being to study the Cosmic Cube, but his ambition made him turn against the organization and stay at the top of its power.[1]
Cosmic Brick Crisis[]
One of the villains hired by Loki and Doctor Doom, M.O.D.O.K. was present on an A.I.M. submarine, M.O.D.O.K. ambushed Iron Man, Spider-Man and Thor while they pursued Doom. The three eventually defeated M.O.D.O.K. as a result of him overloading his power. After M.O.D.O.K. was defeated, Doom fled in the stolen S.H.I.E.L.D. research sub. The A.I.M. ship then began to break down and sink, Doom abandoned M.O.D.O.K. M.O.D.O.K. survived, however, and was taken into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody.[3]
Working for S.H.I.E.L.D.[]
M.O.D.O.K became an "Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." starting out as a hack, and to become popular he asks an ally for help to take a selfie of the Hulk with Ultron's inactive body.[2] For reasons unknown, he (off-screen) quit S.H.I.E.L.D. and again becomes evil.
MODOK Operandi[]
Planning to take control of all of New York, M.O.D.O.K. created some equipment and put them in gifts to send to various heroes and take mind control of all of them. Their plans were being thwarted by Taskmaster, who had freed several heroes from M.O.D.O.K.'s mind control and fought him at Roxxon Power Station, defeating him.[4]
Kang's Invasion[]
When brought to Chronopolis by Kang, M.O.D.O.K. became the sheriff of the Old West, having partnered with Captain Corbett. Unfortunately for him, he would be defeated by the Guardians of the Galaxy. Later, M.O.D.O.K. pretended to be a cosplayer to trick Squirrel Girl into her Central Park event. Inside, the villain along with Ratatoskr would spoil the event. But both would once again be defeated by Squirrel Girl, Chipmunk and Koi Boi.[1]Notes
