Synopsis for "Nuklo -- The Invader That Time Forgot"

An intruder at Avengers Mansion brings together Captain America and a group of other Avengers to meet the invader trying to get hold of a Chrono Module device left in the Avengers care. To everyone's surprise, the intruder turns out to be Cap's old World War 2 ally, the Whizzer. After a brief battle, the Whizzer tells the Avengers of the final days of the All-Winners Squad, and their battles against Isbisa, Future Man and Madam Death. Whizzer then tells of how after the group disbanded he and Miss America were married and joined the CIA, and during a nuclear test both were exposed to powerful radiation. When Miss America got pregnant, their son proved to be lethally radioactive and it is he who was put into the Chrono Module, and that the Whizzer had come to prevent his mutated son from escaping its confines.

However, it is too late and Nuklo frees itself and attacks the Whizzer and the Avengers, injuring the Whizzer and escaping. As the Avengers go off to stop Nuklo, the Scarlet Witch takes the Whizzer to a hospital where she learns that at one point Miss America was once more pregnant and the two of them traveled to Wundagore Mountain to seek the aid of the High Evolutionary. Although Miss America died, the Whizzer was presented with twin children, whom the Whizzer assumes are the Scarlet Witch and her brother Quicksilver.

Meanwhile, the Avengers split up into groups to find Nuklo, and amazingly each group finds their own Nuklo to battle, the creature having split into three parts. The Avengers manage to battle each counterpart into fleeing until the three merge back together and attack the Avengers at full strength. Although the Avengers are easily defeated by Nuklo, Whizzer and Scarlet Witch arrive to save the day. The Witch uses her mutant hex power against Nuklo which appears to kill the creature. Afterward, Whizzer is returned to the hospital to recover, where he asks Scarlet Witch to look after her brother.

Synopsis for "The Magician and the Maiden!"

Reprint of the 2nd story from
Tales to Astonish #58

One day the Wasp is looking at a series of pictures of her and Giant-Man's many foes which hang on the wall of their headquarters. Hearing that the Magician has escaped, she takes down his picture. She soon hears a radio report about a local clothing store that is selling Wasp-inspired clothing.

Meanwhile, Henry Pym, out on other business, hears the news and sends a message to the Wasp to stay home until the Magician is caught. Getting the message, the Wasp disregards it, to check out the clothing display. Arriving at the store, she is attacked by the Magician, who attempts to capture her.

The Wasp makes short work of him, using quick thinking and the store's many toys to take down the crook, who is promptly arrested. She comes home in time to meet Henry, jumping into his arms after realizing that he hadn't heard that the Magician had been captured, while sarcastically saying that she can never do anything without his help.
