History

Early Life[]

Gloria Angel was once a popular actress in Hollywood, known for her roles in classic films. After retiring from acting, she took over as manager of a Los Angeles apartment building that became home to a diverse and creative group of residents. Among her tenants were aspiring actor Simon Williams, also known as Wonder Man, and other entertainment industry hopefuls such as Argus LaVecchio, LaHoya Scripps, and Aundray Phelps.[1] Despite her retired status, Gloria remained actively involved in the lives of her tenants. She provided maternal guidance and emotional support, especially as the group became entangled in the unusual events surrounding Wonder Man's volatile ionic energy.[2]

Transformation by Ionic Energy[]

After Wonder Man was assaulted by Angkor, the residents carried him home, only to witness a sudden and violent discharge of unstable ionic energy.[3] Though initially showing no signs of injury, all eight individuals present Gloria included later developed superhuman abilities as a result of their exposure.[4] Gloria discovered she had gained the ability to travel through time, allowing her to momentarily enter temporal anomalies or shift across moments in history. Despite her age and retired lifestyle, Gloria accepted this transformation with grace and purpose.[5]

Founding the Crazy Eight[]

When the group decided to form a superhero team in response to Wonder Man's increasing instability, Gloria chose to join them, taking the name Glamour Girl a nod to both her Hollywood past and her newly acquired powers.[6] As the Crazy Eight, the group included Gloria, Auteur, Dreamer, Stat, Snap, Buff, Visionary, and Attractive Lad.[7] Gloria's time abilities were used strategically, providing the team with glimpses into alternate outcomes or warning them of imminent threats. Their first major battle was against Armed Response, a corrupt private enforcement unit linked to crime boss Lotus Newmark.[8] After exposing the operation, the team was targeted by assassins Splice and Rampage. Gloria participated in the defence of her friends, although her powers were more subtle and less combative than others.[9]

Aftermath[]

Eventually, Wonder Man reabsorbed the ionic energy from his allies to stabilise himself, removing Gloria's powers in the process.[10] She returned to a more ordinary life but continued to serve as an anchor for the group, especially after Wonder Man's apparent death.[11] In the aftermath, Gloria legally adopted or became the guardian of Esteban.[12]
